A detailed introduction of Imam Shafi's book "Al Umm", its characteristics and review of its impact on post-Islamic literature

Muhammad Ibn-i-Idrees al-Shafi'i is a famous Imam Mujtahid, Jurist and Muhaddith of the second century AH. Among the four schools of thought of Ahl-i- Sunnah wa'l Jama'ah, Shafi'i is the Imam and founder of his own school of thought. Just as his book Al-Risalah has the status of the first book and the primary source in the principles of jurisprudence, like that his book Al-Umm has the status of the primary source in the field of jurisprudence. The Shafi'i school of jurisprudence is based on this book. And complete jurisprudence has been compiled on the basis of this book. Imam Shafi'i wrote this book in his last years, when he was living in Egypt. In Egypt he not only re-arranged Al-Risalah, but also revised most of the issues of his jurisprudence and compiled a collection of them in the form of Kitab al-Umm. This book was dictated by him to his students and it is through them that it is Available in front of us today. The four-volume book Al-Umm also discusses a special chapter of jurisprudence, international Islamic War Law. For this reason, it is also used in the formulation of international law. In the following article, we will try to introduce the Kitab Al-Umm and comment on its approach, as well as examine its effects on later literature.
