This paper presents an in-depth investigative study of the death rituals practiced in Southern Punjab, Pakistan, with a keen focus on examining these traditions through the lens of the Quran and Sunnah. Death rituals hold a significant place in the cultural and religious landscape of this region, impacting various aspects of the local community's life.
The primary objective of this research is to explore the extent to which the death rituals in Southern Punjab align with Islamic teachings, as outlined in the Quran and Sunnah. By delving into this comparative analysis, the study aims to shed light on the potential harmonies and divergences that exist between the prevalent local customs and the guidelines provided by Islam.The research employs a multi-faceted approach, involving both qualitative and quantitative methods, including surveys, interviews, and ethnographic observations.The findings of this study will contribute to a better understanding of the intersection between cultural traditions and religious beliefs in Southern Punjab. Moreover, it provides insights into the extent to which the Quran and Sunnah influence the lives of the local population and how these religious sources impact the expression of grief and commemoration in the face of death.
