Imam Zufar bin Huzail’s Life History and his description of Ijtehad (Diligence) and Qiyas (Analogy)

Abstract

 Imam Zufar’s family tree, birth, education and training have been mentioned. Imam’s eminent mentors and disciples have been covered. The influence of jurisprudence (fiqh) was dominant on him. He was well-versed in the teaching of hadith. He had also command over analogical reasoning and was a well-known preacher of his time. He preferred lexical analysis over imitation. He kept aside worldly affairs and adopted asceticism. He preached what was right. He was careful in all matters of fiqh. He has trustworthy narrators. To have command over his analogical reasoning, some of the topics of analogy, from the book Hidaya are given.
